2005
A newly assembled team of young and hungry VFX artists led by founder Petar Jovovic and Marko Milicevic sets out to do the impossible: pull off Hollywood-ready visual effects in a French-Serbian feature production known as Tears for Sale. Crater team is born, and the French production crew christen us as [the] bunch of freaks from the apartment.
2006
The Crater team makes its first move outside national borders! Partnering up with Crater’s current art director Zoran Cvetkovic from Skopje, Macedonia, we get to work on some odd jobs for Indian productions. We catch a glimpse of what having a proper budget means, and start cooking up plans for taking over the world film by film.
2007
The Crater team becomes incorporated! Crater Studio LLC is born with an address in a rented downtown apartment in Belgrade, Serbia.
2008
Crater Studio meets United States! We visit LA for Siggraph and make our way to New York, meeting our first international contacts. Gregor Lakner, newly available after spending almost a decade at ILM, enters the stage. We get our first international gig: a commercial for Kinder, the European chocolate brand.
2009
Crater Studio gets its first office space! We move into TC Takovo, a newly built office complex next to the Belgrade Botanical Garden. Miljana joins the team as a partner.
2010
Crater goes to Hollywood! Or, at least, our work does in the flick The Other Guys, done in partnership with Evil Eye Studio from San Francisco. Milovan joins the studio as a partner.
2011
Crater Studio gets a new address! As we move into our state-of-the-art office space in downtown Belgrade, we finish up our first stereo project, Shark Night 3D.
2012
Crater goes to India! Starting with baby steps, we enter the market with a Kit-Kat commercial. Recognizing the struggle in talent acquisition, we set on building our own Training Center and open its doors by the end of the year.
2013
Crater is back at Siggraph! This time, we shake hands with legendary CFX Oscar winner Scott Anderson and secure our first project with him - Muhammad.
2014
Crater Studio enters power mode! We pull our most exhausting sprint thus far, with almost a year of continuous, studio-wide work on Mohammad and regroup for the next challenge.
2015
Crater Studio gets a production department!
2016
Part of Crater team does our first independent short, Pig on the Hill, in co-production with Lightstream Productions from Los Angeles, USA while the rest is busy pushing the limits with Shallows and Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events.
2017
Crater Studio goes to Bollywood! We win over the Indian market with the blockbuster Baahubali 2.
2018
Crater Studio enters China! We cross off another continent as we join Bangbang Production for the blockbuster Airpocalypse.
2019
Crater Studio enters China! We cross off another continent as we join Bangbang Production for the blockbuster Airpocalypse.
